Cohousing has come to Fresno (CA)

Our multi-generational community, La Querencia (pronounced la ker en' see ah), has been busy getting to know each other, purchasing land in a very desirable neighborhood, designing our homes, securing planning approval and having fun. We look forward to breaking ground in late Fall, 2006.

We will have 28 homes on 2.8 acres, with a common house, pool, exercise room, teen hang-out, workshop and gardens. Charles Durrett of McCamant & Durrett Architects is our architect, and Kathryn McCamant of CoHousing Partners is our project manager.

Half of the homes are already spoken for, but several home types are still available. The design includes big porches, lots of natural light, and the green building features for which Katie and Chuck are known. Fresno is located in central California within a short drive of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and three National Parks, and within easy driving distance of the Central California coast, the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles.
